The research carried out by my research group includes the development of environmental sciences for a sustainable conservation of artistic and cultural heritage. Experimental, laboratory and field activities, modeling and new methodologies are developed for the diagnosis of the damage that artistic, historical, archaeological and architectural artifacts undergo for direct and indirect effects exerted by environmental factors.
The characterization of building materials constituting cultural heritage, the assessment of their conservation and the relative causes of deterioration are studied in with targeted studies in Italy, Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
The impact of climate change on assets and the cultural landscape is also studied.
