Chiara Marzi

Fixed-term Assistant Professor working in a different University

Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna

Curriculum vitae

Junior Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics, Computer Science and Applications "Giuseppe Parenti",University of Florence.

Chiara Marzi's research interests are mainly aimed at imaging and biomedical signals. She is involved in research projects for the development and application of computational methods for the analysis of functional and structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the brain, MR and Computed Tomography (CT) images of the prostate, stomach, intestine, lung and kidney. In particular, she has prevelantly dealt with:

  • assessment of brain complexity by fractal analysis from structural and functional MRI images in healthy subjects and in different neurological conditions (atypical brain development, neurodegenerative diseases, and diseases of vascular origin)
  • extraction and analysis of radiomic features from MRI and CT images
  • development of artificial intelligence techniques for biomedical data

Education

Graduated in Biomedical Engineering M.S. (cum laude) in 2016 from the University of Bologna, she obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical, Electrical and Systems Engineering (IBES) in 2020 (with excellent judgment).

Academic career

December 2022 - present: Junior Assistant professor at the Department of Statistics, Computer Science and Applications "Giuseppe Parenti", University of Florence.

April 2021 - December 2022: Research Fellow at the Institute of Applied Physics "Nello Carrara" (IFAC) - National Research Council.

April 2020 - March 2021: Research fellow at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli," Department of Advanced Medical and Surgical Sciences

Teaching activities

From 2016 to 2020, he has continuously carried out integrative teaching activities for the teaching "Biomedical Data and Signal Processing" (Master's Degree Course in Biomedical Engineering, University of Bologna, Cesena Campus).

In A.Y. 2021-2022, she was Adjunct Professor for the teachings of "Biological System Modeling" and "Biomedical Signal Processing and Machine Learning" (Master's Degree Course in Biomedical Engineering of the University of Bologna, Cesena Campus).
