Nota biografica

I am a cultural and linguistic anthropologist whose work focuses on processes of value creation at the intersection of ethics and economics, analyzing how language mediates the transnational circulation of resources between Africa and Europe. My monograph in preparation, "Selective Solidarity: Migration and the Morality of Stratified Childhoods" asks how escalating global inequalities reshape the ways transnational families negotiate what I call “economic moralities,” or normative expectations of material obligation.
My current project scales up this research, investigating economic moralities in the financial sector as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the ERC project "The Hau of Finance." My research focuses on the African Development Bank's "Fight Covid-19" social impact bonds, examining the morally-charged discourses that gave rise to these emergency loans and that mediates the circulation of these resources on the ground in Dakar, Senegal.
