Academic discipline: ICAR/07 Geotechnics

Curriculum vitae

Junior Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering – DICAM – at the University of Bologna. The main study interests are aimed at the study of the hydro-mechanical response of river embankment through the combined use of monitoring data, physical and numerical modelling. Actually, the research activities linked to the development of the project entitled: “Mitigating backward erosion piping phenomena beneath large river embankments: physical and numerical modelling for the development of an innovative and eco-sustainable technology”, financed within the project LIFE SANDBOIL (Natural-Based Solution to Mitigate Flood Risk due to Sand Boils Reactivations along the Po River, Agreement number: LIFE19/ENV/IT/000071).

Academic and scientific activities

Following the Master Degree in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Naples “Federico II”, the Doctorate in Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering with specific reference to the Structural and Geotechnical Engineering curricula at the DICAM Department of the University of Bologna, carrying out part of the research activities abroad at the Department of Geosciences and Engineering at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, under the scientific supervision of Professor Cristina Jommi and defending the thesis titled “Numerical and experimental investigation of riverbanks stability under transient seepage conditions, accounting for heterogeneity and unsaturated soils issues” under the main scientific supervision of Professor Guido Gottardi. Between 2017 and 2021 is a research fellow at the DICAM Department at the University of Bologna in the framework of the INFRASAFE (Smart Monitoring for Safe Infrastructure, POR-FESR 2014–2020, Shaft 1 – Action 1.2.2), OPERANDUM (OPEn-air laboRAtories for Nature baseD solUtions to Manage environmental risks, Horizon 2020, Agreement number: 776848) and REDREEF (Risk Assessment of Earth Dams and River Embankment to Earthquakes and Floods, MIUR-PRIN 2017, prot. 2017YPMBWJ) projects, then is Junior Assistant Professor in the framework of LIFE SandBoil (Natural-Based Solution to Mitigate Flood Risk due to Sand Boils Reactivations along the Po River, Agreement number: LIFE19/ENV/IT/000071) project.

Co-author of seven papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and several contributions to scientific conferences of national and international relevance.

Teaching activities
