Short Bio

Carmen Bonasera holds a PhD in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature from the University of Pisa (Italy), where she is also a Subject expert (“Cultrice della materia”) in Theory of Literature. In 2020, she defended a doctoral dissertation on the fictionalization of the self in female 20th-century poetry, focusing on Italian, North American and Latin American authors. She is currently working as a Teaching Tutor in English Literature at the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures (University of Bologna). Her research interests center on modern and contemporary literature, gender studies, the theory of the lyric, life writings, as well as narrative empathy and affect studies. She is a member of the Editorial Board of ‘Metbib: Bibliography of Metaphor and Metonymy’, as well as a member of COMPALIT (Italian Comparative Literature Association), IGEL (International Society for the Empirical Study of Literature) and PALA (Poetics and Linguistics Association).
