Short Bio

After graduating in Sport Science and Physical Education at the University of Leon (Spain) in 2013. He subsequently completed an MSc in Sport Science for Optimal Performance from the University of Kent (UK) in 2015. He was awarded a PhD in Sport and Exercise Science in 2023, also at the University of Kent. He joined the University of Bologna as a Research Fellow (2021-2023) and Adjunct Professor (2022-2023). His main research interest is to explore strategies to improve endurance and ultra-endurance performance, with a focus on sleep, fatigue, caffeine, training load, and psychobiology.


He has also provided sport science support not only for various athletes competing at international endurance events including Ironman World Championships, Marathon Des Sables, and Atlantic Rowing Challenge, but also international professional teams in various disciplines, such as cycling (UCI ProTeam), football (EFL League One), and motorsports (Rally Dakar). He has done sport science consultancy work for companies, such as ASICS and SCARPA.
