Curriculum vitae


After getting the "Laurea" in Modern Italian Literature from the University of Pisa as well as the Diploma of Modern Italian Literature from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, she obtained a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Italian Studies from New York university, after which she was Fondazione Sapegno postdoctoral fellow at Collège de France and Lauro del Bosis Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University.


Academic Career

Lecturer (= Assistant Professor) in Modern and Contemporary Italian Literature from 2012 to 2017 and Reader/Associate Professor in Italian Studies since 2017 at University College London.



She was Teaching Assistant at New York University from 2002 to 2008. In 2011-2012 she was Lauro De Bosis Lecturer in the History of Italian Civilisation at Harvard University and in Spring 2020 she was Visiting Professor at the University of Geneva.

Since 2012 she has taught BA and MA courses at University College London.


Research fellowships and grants, and memberships:

During her education and carreer, she won various fellowships and grants, including the following: New York University McCracken Fellowship (2001-2006); New York University Global Fellowship (2008-2009); New York University Humanities Initiative Fellowship (2008-2009); Getty Library Research Grant (2009); Fondazione Sapegno-Collège de France fellowship (2010-2011); Lauro de Bosis Visiting Postdoctoral Fellowship (2011-2012); EURIAS FP7-People-Cofund Marie Curie Action (2017-2018); University College London Global Engagement Fund (2018-2019).

She is a member of the following research teams: Équipe de Littérature et Culture Italiennes (ELCI) Sorbonne University in Paris; Centre de Recherches Italiennes (CRIX) at Paris Nanterre University in Paris; Scuola Dottorale Confederale in Civiltà Italiana at Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) in collaboration with Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in Pisa.


Academic Services

She was panel member for recruiting the following: a Lecturer in Italian History (University College London, 2014); a Lecturer in Italian Renaissance (University College London, 2016); an Associate Professor in Contemporary Italian Literature (Université de Lausanne, 2020); a Lecturer in Italian Studies (University College London, 2021).

She has been External Examiner in Italian at Royal Holloway University of London since 2018 (appointment lasts until 2022). Since 2013 she has been External Examiner for PhD vivasin the following universities: Oxford (6 students), Edinburgh (2 students), Warwick (1), Paris Nanterre-Bologna (1, cotutelle), Padua (1) and Università della Svizzera Italiana (1), and internal examiner at University College London (1 student).

In 2016 she was external international assessor for ANVUR (Agenzia Nazionale di Valutazione del Sistema Universitario e della Ricerca), the Italian equivalent of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) in the UK, and in 2016-2017 she was Subject Area Representative for Italian for the LAHP (London Arts & Humanities Partnership) studentship competition.
