Possibility of Internship + Master's Thesis at ARPAE (Bologna, Viale Silvani) - Starting from autumn 2019
ARPAE recently coded in C ++ a weather generator based on the MulGETS method (Chen et al., 2014, https://elibrary.asabe.org/abstract.asp?aid=45118). The weather generator produces two-dimensional lat-lon fields of precipitation and maximum and minimum daily temperatures that are consistent with each other and with a group of climate indices. The tool is very important for assessing climate impacts in various fields (e.g. agronomic and hydrological) starting from seasonal forecasts and climate projections.The internship activity involves testing the weather generator and using it to assess the potential hydrological impacts of possible future climate scenarios.
