Service to the community:

Has refereed research papers for a number of journals, such as Comm. P.D.E., Kyoto J. Math. and numerous Italian journals. He is a

member of the American Mathematical Society and a reviewer for both the Zentralblatt f\"ur Mathematik and the Mathematical Reviews. He also

served as a member on committees for the appointment of both professors and junior researchers in several Universities across the country.

Teaching:

Has taught courses at all levels, from elementary Calculus to advanced Ph.~D., both in Italy and abroad (Japan and U.S.A.). Has had a number of

Ph.~D. students; the youngest just obtained his Ph.~D. degree.

Publications:

About 75 publications, mainly on partial differential equations and microlocal analysis.

Actual Research Subject:

* Analytic hypoellipticity of $C^\infty$ hypoelliptic operators; in particular the symplectic geometry of "sums of squares" operators and Treves'

conjecture.

* Sums of squares of complex vector fields and the regularity of their solution.

* Propagation of the analytic or Gevrey wave front set for operators with semidefinite principal symbols.
