Alessio Caporali is a PhD candidate at the University of Bologna, Italy. Before, he received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Automation Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2017 and 2019 respectively. In 2020, prior to joining the doctoral program, Alessio was the recipient of a research grant at the Laboratory of Automation and Robotics of the University of Bologna working on the perception and manipulation of deformable objects.
His research interest focus on computer vision and machine learning techniques applied to robotics for the perception and manipulation of deformable objects like cables, ropes, tubes, clothes and towels. In the context of his research, Alessio is actively involved in the European funded project REMODEL, where he is responsible for developing methods concerning the sensing of deformable linear objects for industrial applications.
