Academic discipline: MED/07 Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology

Curriculum vitae

PhD student at the University of Bologna since November 2018 for the 34th cycle of the PhD in Biotechnological, Biocomputational, Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences. His research interests are towards studying life systems from both molecular and cellular perspective, focusing his attention in virology and drug discovery. At the moment he's studying Parvovirus B19 at S.Orsola-Malpighi hospital (department of Pharmacy, Biotechnology and Sport Science of University of Bologna), expecially building and characterizing new genomic sequences coding for different variants of B19V. The main focus is on viral protein NS, on its characterisation and on the identification of antivirals acting on this target.

Teaching Assistance

During his PhD, he supervised several internship students of Bachelor and Master's Degree programmes of the Pharmacy and Biotechnologies Department, resulting as co-supervisor of their thesis.

He earned the Bachelor Degree in Biotechnology at the University of Parma with the final grades of 110/110 cum Laude, presenting a thesis titled "Validation of yBRET (Yeast-based Bioluminescence Resconance Energy Transfer) method for the identification of protein-protein interactions inhibitors. Then, he earned the Master Degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Bologna with the final grades of 110/110 cum Laude, presenting a thesis titled "Activity of Parvovirus B19 genomic clones modified by adding a histidine tag at the N-terminus of NS protein"

From September to October 2018 he continued to work, as a "Laureato Frequentatore", in the same laboratory waiting for the beginning of the PhD cycle.
