Master Thesis / Internship project in collaboration with Keysight Technologies, Denmark

Overview

The research group on Electronic Design and Measurement for RF and Industrial Applications (EDM-LAB: http://www.edmlab.dei.unibo.it/) of the University of Bologna and Keysight Labs in Aalborg, Denmark, are collaborating in the development of electronic measurement and modeling techniques for the next generation of mobile communications (5G). Within this framework, multiple thesis projects (or pre/post-graduate internship) are available involving device characterization, modeling of components and systems, and development of measurement functionalities.

Abstract

The thesis projects are dedicated to the development of measurement functionalities and model identification techniques around the Keysight PNA-X Microwave Network Analyzer platform, which allows for nonlinear vector network analysis, pulsed measurements, and a flexible environment for the set-up of novel measurement approaches. A thesis project typically lasts 6 months full-time, and is composed by: study of the state-of-the-art and theory (30%), lab activity including RF system simulation and/or RF measurements and/or software programming (50%), and thesis/documentation writing (20%). Depending on the project, the work will be developed completely or partially abroad, or at the EDM-LAB in Bologna. All thesis projects involve research activities that may end up in either a publication or intellectual property.
