Short Bio

Currently Sr. Associate Astronomer of INAF, Bologna, Italy. Worked longtime in Milan (Brera Astron. Obs.), Mexico (INAOE, Puebla), and Spain (Roque de los Muchachos Intl. Obs., La Palma). Supervised +30 thesis in Physics, Astrophysics and Philosophy of Science. My research deals both with galaxy evolution and with Space Situational Awareness issues related to natural (meteors & NEO) and artificial space debris (aka the "Kessler Syndrome"). Currently member in the Project Office of PRISMA, the National Network for Meteor and High-Atmosphere Surveillance, and in the Steering Committee of OCIS, as a part of the EU-SST Consortium for Space Surveillance and Defense, as INAF Representative. My papers collected over 2900 citations, with a Hirtsch Index of 28 (as from the NASA ADS database).
