I am currently conducting research within the European project Perceptions: Understand the Impact of Novel Technologies, Social Media, and Perceptions in Countries Abroad on Migration Flows and the Security of the EU & Provide Validated Counter Approaches, Tools and Practices [https://project.perceptions.eu/], funded by the Horizon2020 program that aimed at understanding the role of different perceptions of Europe in migration processes, through an analysis of narratives spread by media and social media, by migrant people, policymakers and first-line practitioners.

I have conducted research on the role of media and information campaigns with Gambian journalists (Gambia Press Union) concerning their role as journalists in disseminating narratives about Europe in The Gambia.

I have carried out a documentary film on Gambian "Backway" (not launched yet) migrations to Europe that center on narratives, perceptions, agricultural exploitation in Europe, remittances and social prestige.

In the field of human rights and sociology of work, the research themes on which I work include (but not limited to) migrant farmworkers' exploitation and forms of contemporary slavery (with case study in Campobello di Mazara, Trapani, 2020), institutional marginalization, discrimination and abuse of human rights of third country nationals resident in Italy and Senegalese (since 2015) & Gambian irregular migrations to the EU, narratives, perceptions and remittances (with case studies in Senegal and The Gambia 2019, 2020, 2021).
