Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire
Introductory knowledge on IA different systems and generative systems in particular. Knowledge of the relevant Intellectual Property provisions in the International and European IP legal framework, including the Copyright provisions of the European AI Act draft. Capability to examine and analyze the increasing case law on the point
Contenuti
This seminar is an advanced spin-off of the Copyright Law course and requires the knowledge of the basic principles of Copyright Law.
It can be therefore selected only if the Copyright Law course has been selected too, and passing the Copyright Law exam is required to take the exam of this seminar.
The course will deal with the advanced principles, cases (and provisions, if any) on copyright applied to generative AI systems.
Given that attendance is compulsory, the programme of the course will be the same for all students (e.g., Erasmus, Overseas, etc.).
Testi/Bibliografia
Since there is not yet an updated and "ultimate" handbook on such an evolving subject matter, the teaching materials will be shared and discussed in class, lesson by lesson, then uploaded on the Virtuale repository.
Metodi didattici
Case analysis on copyright applied to Generative AI Systems.
Due to high technicalities, attendance is compulsory for at least 20 hours. Signature by the students will be required each lesson.
Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento
At the end of May - beginning of June 2025, a written exam shall be arranged according to the Department's sessions.
The written exam will be a closed book multiple choice test. It will consist in 10 questions and it will last around 1 hour. The exam is passed with at least 6 correct answers.
All the following exams will be oral. As for the Summer Session, the further (oral) exams will be around mid-June and the first half July 2025.
The oral exam will be passed showing at least a sufficient knowledge on the programme, sufficient reasoning ability and sufficient technical-legal language.
Please, avoid to make requests for unofficial "pre-exams" before or after the regular dates, since all the students (including Erasmus, Overseas, etc.) are requested to stay in Bologna the time necessary to attend the course and to have their regular exams, bookedon Almaesami. Unless exceptional and documented cases of necessary return back for foreing students - approved by the International Dept. Office - no request of such kind shall be taken into consideration.
Strumenti a supporto della didattica
All the materials will be uploaded on the Virtuale repository.
Students who, due to disability or specific learning disorders (DSA), need compensatory tools shall communicate to the teacher their needs so as to be directed to the relevant persons and agree on the adoption of the most appropriate measures.
