Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

Students acquire knowledge of the history of exhibitions in order to discern and evaluate the different specificities of the artistic and curatorial role, as well as to deepen the lines of research emerged internationally in recent years. In particular, they acquire the coordinates to analyse, from a historical and artistic point of view, recurring and major museum exhibitions. Furthermore, they learn the methodology to detect, historically locate and critically evaluate the major issues related to the organization and curatorship of art exhibitions. This knowledge benefits the students in developing their individual research.

Contenuti

The exam for Curatorial Practices and Contemporary Art consists of two courses: Curating the contemporary and LAB - Curatorial Practices. Curatorial Practices and Contemporary Art is an integrated exam of 12 CFU (6 CFU+6 CFU) and the verification and evaluation of the preparation follow the procedures laid down for an integrated exam, i.e. they must be taken in the same session and students must then register simultaneously for both exams.

The course Curating the contemporary intends to deepen some of the key modalities of art presentation in public and shared spaces, both in occasion of temporary exhibitions and permanent works. After presenting some of the main historical aspects related to the realization of works in public contexts, the course aims to deepen some of the procedures of recent artistic intervention. We will analyze, therefore, the concepts of monument and anti-monument, site-specific art and participatory and collaborative art. During the lessons we will try to deepen the public art also through some case studies both in the exhibition and curatorial field and in the artistic practice.

Metodi didattici

Due to the restrictions imposed by the current health emergency, teaching will be carried out with “traditional" teaching methods, i.e. the teacher will always be present in the classroom designated for teaching, students will alternate in attendance according to a schedule of shifts being defined (more detailed information about the shift and how to access the lesson in attendance will be provided later). It will always be possible to connect remotely and follow live streaming of the lessons in the classroom by TEAMS platform.

Restricted places for incoming exchange students:

Places for incoming exchange students in this teaching activity are limited and are primarily reserved to students enrolled in art related programmes at their home university. To check availability, please write to amac@unibo.it [mailto:amac@unibo.it]

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

The exam consists of an interview to evaluate the critical and methodological skills acquired by the students. Students will be assessed especially considering whether they have acquired ability to orientate within the visual and written sources recommended in the bibliography and on the Virtuale platform, for finding useful information to illustrate topics and issues by connecting them.

What will be assessed: - Mastery of the contents - the ability to historically frame concepts, artists, exhibitions and movements - The ability to analyse themes and concepts - The ability to express oneself adequately and in a language appropriate to the subject being dealt with.

It will be assessed as excellent the performance of those students achieving an organic vision of the course contents, the use of a proper specific language.

It will be assessed as average the performance of those students showing mostly mechanical or mnemonic knowledge of the subject, not articulated synthesis and analysis capabilities, a correct but not always appropriate language, as well as a scholastic study of the topics of the course. It will be assessed as barely sufficient the performance of those students showing learning gaps, inappropriate language, lack of knowledge of the recommended bibliography. It will be assessed as insufficient the performance of those students showing learning gaps, inappropriate language, no orientation within the recommended bibliography and inability to analyse the discipline.

Strumenti a supporto della didattica
