  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Astrophysics and Cosmology (cod. 5828)

Learning outcomes

Participating to an internship in structures within or outside the University, in Italy or abroad, the student completes his/her education by carrying out practical work in fields related to Astrophysics and Cosmology, like public outreach and scientific communication, technologies, data analysis, informatics, etc.

Course contents

This course is meant to introduce students to experiences aside from those generally provided by academic courses. These experiences can include traineeship in chosen institutes (data analysis, acquisition of new competences in observational/numerical/theoretical astrophysics), participation in schools/workshops/meetings, public-outreach events, scientific communication.

Readings/Bibliography

Readings will be properly selected depending on the kind of activity chosen by the student.

Teaching methods

Teaching will be mainly focused on the topics which will be considered the most challenging by the students on the basis of their internship experience.

Assessment methods

Students will present their internship experience using a powerpoint presentation. Their knowledge in the chosen field will be evaluated in terms of capability of presenting - in a scientifically robust and appropriate way - the main discoveries and outcomes of the project, possibly placing it in an extended context.
