Learning outcomes

M-PSI/03 (Psychometrics): By the end of the laboratory, students will know: - modalities of administration of psychological tests; - data analyses and their use. M-PSI/08 (Clinical Psychology): By the end of the laboratory, students will be able: - to discriminate between different psychotherapeutic approaches; - to understand the applications of specific techniques to single patient. 

Course contents

Prof. Danilo Carrozzino Module 1/1 (Clinical Psychology - M-PSI/08):

1) The interview process in clinical psychology: conceptual and methodological aspects.

2) The psychological interview in the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).

3) The psychological interview in the Well-Being Therapy (WBT).

4) The psychological interview in the Schema Therapy.

 

Prof. Rabih Chattat Module 1/2 (Clinical Psychology - M-PSI/08):

  • Coping and adaptation to chronic diseases in olders and frailty.
  • Psychosocial assessment of people with neurocognitive disorders
  • The psychosocial assessment of the family caregiver
  • Planning and implementation of integrated, personalized and multi-components psychosocial interventions

 

Dr. Giulia Casu Module 2 (Psychometrics - M-PSI/03):

Multivariate inferential statistical analysis techniques: evaluation of experimental hypotheses and the type of variables available for data analysis, choice of the appropriate statistical test, statistical analysis on SPSS, interpretation of the results obtained.

Main statistical models treated in class: descriptive analysis; exploratory factorial analysis; General Linear Model: ANOVA (one-way, multi-way, multivariate, for repeated measurements, mixed model); ANCOVA; Regression analysis (simple linear, multiple); Nonparametric tests: Chi square test.

The Psychometrics module will take place in the first semester (October-January).

Teaching methods

Prof. Danilo Carrozzino Module 1/1 (Clinical Psychology - M-PSI/08):

Academic lectures combined with practical exercises and work group discussions (e.g., role-playing activities and clinical case presentations).

 

Prof. Rabih Chattat Module 1/2 (Clinical Psychology - M-PSI/08):

The teaching approaches include a brief theoretical description, the presentation of assessment tools and approach, case analysis and intervention plan.

 

Dr. Giulia Casu Module 2 (Psychometrics - M-PSI/03):

The lessons will be organized in practical exercises in the computer room with the SPSS statistical package; the exercises will be individual or in small groups.

Assessment methods

Prof. Danilo Carrozzino Module 1/1 (Clinical Psychology - M-PSI/08):

Class attendance is mandatory and active participation is highly recommended. The final exam consists of an interview at the end of the course.

 

Prof. Rabih Chattat Module 1/2 (Clinical Psychology - M-PSI/08):

The participation is mandatory and signature is required. Both active participation in the discussion of clinical cases and individual contribution to the analysis will be considered for the evaluation.

 

 Dr. Giulia Casu Module 2 (Psychometrics - M-PSI/03):

The Lab will be passed by verifying the attendance of ALL lessons and classes. The attendance will be registered by personal signature. Only those participants who actively attended all classes will be admitted to the final exam. The skills acquired will be verified through a practical exercise, which will take place in the computer room, using the SPSS statistical package and data provided by the teacher.

Teaching tools

PowerPoint presentations, scientific articles, and worksheets will be used.

Slides, videos and clinical cases description will be used.

 

Dr. Giulia Casu Module 2 (Psychometrics - M-PSI/03):

For the practical application of the topics addressed in the laboratory, the teacher will provide teaching materials. Lessons will take place in the computer room, students will have access to the computers in the computer room where the SPSS statistical package is installed; the lecturer will use the video projector and the laboratory PC to illustrate the statistical analyses being studied.
