Learning outcomes

The course provides an introduction to the use of Excel and R Statistics for the analysis of economic and financial data, with the aim of developing students' ability to apply the methods and techniques addressed in the course of Statistics to practical cases, as well as specific skills for the autonomous production and processing of observational data.
At the end of the course, the student is expected to:
- be able to find, select and download official economic and financial databases, functional to the study of markets, companies and financial institutions;
- master the main functions of Excel;
- be able to use the main tools of the basic R Statistics package;
- be able to process descriptive statistics using the two software;
- be able to apply the inferential techniques studied in the course of Statistics with the two software;
- be able to select and perform the most effective graphical representation of data and statistics for the context and the problem under investigation;
- be able to present the results of his analyses in a clear and effective way.
