Learning outcomes

This course provides the legal framework of the subject - in the usual partitions of individual labour law and union law - based on its sources (community, legislative, collective and individual contractual, jurisprudential) and considering the recent major aspects and problems.  

Course contents

The course focuses, both in a domestic and in an European perspective, on employment contract, regulation of the labour market, work performance, health and safety, unemployment benefits and allowances, outsourcing, alternative dispute resolution, trade union organization and activities, collective bargaining, international contracts, posted workers, judicial remedies.

Teaching methods

Lessons mixed with legal clinic case studies.

Classes will be taught in the first and in the second semester. Students attending the course in 2020/2021 will be allowed to take the exam from May 2021.

Classes will either be in presence or by remote connection, according to the University and/or Department instructions.

Assessment methods

There will be a mid-term exam.

The oral exam is aimed at verifying the knowledge of the subject, the use of the correct terminology and the problem solving ability.

The exam will consist of three questions on matters discussed in the lessons. Each question will be scored a maximum of 10, for a total of 30/30.

Definition of the final vote:

preparation on a very limited number of topics taught in the course, analysis capacity displayed only with the help of the Professor, speech mainly correct → 18-19;

preparation on a limited number of topics taught in the course, autonomous analysis capacity only on executive matters, correct speech → 20-24;

preparation on a wide number of topics taught in the course, capacity of autonomous critical analysis, mastery of specific terminology → 25-29;

thorough preparation on the topics taught in the course, capacity of autonomous critical analysis and ability to link, full mastery of specific terminology, self-reflection and argumenting capacity → 30-30L.
