Learning outcomes

The course of legal medicine aims to provide students with the basic elements of the legal medicine with the aim of preparing them for the correct interpretation, in civil law, of the answers obtainable from legal medicine on the asseement of personal damage and, in the criminal field, in terms of identification of the time and the causes of death, as well as the identification of the means of production (so-called crime weapon), in addition to the so-called biological aggravating circumstances, as regards the crime of personal injury. The course also provides the elements of medical ethics and causation. With regard to forensic psychiatry, the main purposes concern the evaluation of any mental defects, in relation to the ability to understand and want, the ability to stand in judgment, the ability to test, interdiction, disability, and support administration.

Teaching methods

Lectures. Interactive seminars. Small group discussions.

Assessment methods

Oral exam concerning the program. Students will be asked to present a chosen questiion by evaluating the correlations and repercussions in the legal and medico-legal fields. This will be followed by an in-depth question chosen by the teacher.

Grading:

-Very limited knowledge and ability to analyze only after prompts, correct use of specific terms → 18-19;
-Limited knowledge and limited ability to analyze issues, correct use of specific terms → 20-24;
-Wide knowledge of the subject and ability to analyze issues autonomously and with a fluent use of specific terms → 25-29;
-Very exaustive knowledge of the subject, ability not only to analyze issues but also to make significant connections between different issues, full knowledge of technical language and in depth dissertation and analysis → 30-30L.
