Course contents
Presentation of the course.
Basic knowledge of data storages (lectures): relational databases; NoSQL.
Use of relational database (lab): Insert, update and query data in SQL, set operators.
Basic knowledge on cartography (lectures): Datum, representation of cartographic information, layers (points, polygon, and polygons), and mapping operators.
GIS systems (lab): gathering information, representations of cartographic information, link to information on cartographic database, data representation, Creation of simple thematic maps.

Students are not required to purchase specific texts. We provide updated training materials. However, students can freely ask for texts relating to specific topics.

Theoretical and practical lessons.
Assessment methods
The final test is divided into two parts:
- a practical 100 minutes test in laboratory to verify the student's ability to create thematic maps;
- an oral examination to test the level of understanding of the course and the student's critical capabilities.
