Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student gains knowledge about numerical methods for structural analysis, with particular reference to FEM (Finite Elements Methods), non-destructive tests and experimental tests.

Course contents

Introduction to numerical methods for structural analysis.

Finite Elements Methods: general introduction and main applications.

Practical examples on the use of FEM for aeronautical components.

Examples of topological optimization of structural components.

Students will work in small teams to a design/optimization problem for aeronautical structural components.
