  • Campus: Forli
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Intercultural and Linguistic Mediation (cod. 8059)

Learning outcomes

Course contents

The course introduces students to dialogue interpreting:

  • profile and role of dialogue interpreters
  • required skills and competences - how to develop them, which tools to use
  • interaction between the parts in role plays in the class

Excellent knowledge of Italian and German is a prerequisite.

Teaching methods

After some initial tasks:

  • analysis of scripts in Italian and German
  • sight translation into and from German
  • short impromptu speeches in Italian and German
  • simple terminology search and preparation of glossaries
  • writing role play scripts

the focus will be on role plays about simple topics that are typical of German/Italian interactions (food and tourism) and that will be re-enacted in class.

After each role play, students serving as interpreters will receive a detailed, accurate feedback focusing on their strengths, as well as recommendations for improvement.

Assessment methods

The final oral exam will be a dialogue interpreting script administered remotely that - in terms of terminology and topics - is fully alined with the topics dealt with in the module.

The oral exam will last approx. 15 minutes. Students will be tested in their language and communicative skills according to evaluation criteria thoroughly discussed in class.

Teaching tools

The Virtuale platform is a repository where students can find all the materials used in class as well as more documents and real videos for additional individual training.

Ad hoc glossaries will be key - as they are a sine qua non when preparing for classes and will becompiled using Google Drive
