Learning outcomes

Students will be expected to be familiar with the basics of Spanish Language and culture - to understand and produce oral and written texts and express themselves fluently and naturally.

Course contents

Lessons will be held twice a week during first term. The first lesson of the week will be mainly focused on grammar skills. The second will be aimed at strengthening writing techniques and communicative. In addition, the course provides an in-depth of the history of Spain through different audiovisual materials and group presentations.

Novels:

Mandatory readings for the oral exam. The student must choose one book from the following list: El camino by Miguel Delibes;Los peces de la amargura by Fernando Aramburu.

Teaching methods

This course module requires a 70% student attendance. The lessons will be predominantly seminars, entailing the active participation of all students in class.

Assessment methods

The final examination aims to test theoretical contents as well as language skills. It consists of a written exam (on the grammatical contents) and an oral exam (on the topics of the course programme and on the obligatory readings).

The overall mark of the integrated course “Language and Cultural Mediation: Spanish I (Second Language)” will be the average between the marks obtained for course modules “Spanish Language and Culture I” and “Language Mediation between Spanish and Italian”.
