Readings/Bibliography

It is not necessary to purchase specialistic books. The teaching material presented during the lessons is available online through the proper link of the University of Bologna.

Teaching methods

During the lessons the main notions dealing with the anatomy, physiology and pathology of otolaryngologic districts will be presented and discussed. These clinical aspects will be appropriately integrated by nursing management rules in order to promote the learning of this discipline in relation to the future employment of the students.

Assessment methods

At the end of the course the examination aims to assess the achievement of learning objectives:
- Knowledge of the basic anatomic and physiologic notions of otolaryngologic districts.
- Knowledge of the major otolaryngologic diseases and of the related diagnostic pathways.
- Knowledge of the therapeutic methods and nursing management of the major otolaryngologic pathologies.
The assessment of the learning focuses on a written quiz test, with 10 multiple choice questions, which is carried out together with the tests of Ophthalmology (10 questions), Ethics (open answer questions) and Intensive Care (20 questions). The Nursing module is instead evaluated orally by the respective teachers. The Otorino test will be considered passed if the student correctly answers at least 6 questions. The outcome of this test will then be combined with that relating to the other courses of the integrated course and the exam will be passed if all the individual tests are sufficient. On the contrary, not having passed a single test will result in the repetition in a subsequent appeal of the entire exam. The total duration of the written test is 60 minutes. Tools such as calculation aids, vocabularies, etc. cannot be used. Registration for the exam takes place online on Alma Esami.
