Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students acquire methodologies and tools to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze urban aggregates, architectures and the environment in which they are inserted.

Course contents

The aim of the course is to provide the students the knowledge about representation methods and techniques to support the analysis and evaluation of architectural project outcomes incorporated into the existing urban/environmental context.

At the end of the course, students are able to use digital tools to study and analyze existing urban landscape and to represent their architectural project, with particular attention to the multi-scalar complexity of the context and to the selection of the elements that are at the base of the design process.

Readings/Bibliography

It is not required to buy specific texts.
During the course both the updated teaching material and a specific bibliography will be provided after each lesson.

Teaching methods

The course will be organized in lectures and field practice with the purpose of experiencing concepts illustrated during lectures.

Assessment methods

The passing of the exam is collectively agreed among all the courses in which the Integrated Course is organized.

In particolar, as far as this course is concerned, the final exam consists on the discussion and assessment of both the final work and on the ongoing reviews.

Passing this test will be guaranteed to all students who will demonstrate that they have mastered the methods and techniques of representation and used them to as tools to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the assigned urban aggregates, architectures and environment.

Teaching tools

Classrooms are equipped with computers and video projectors in order to better graphically illustrate the presented topics.

Students will use the instruments, equipment, software and hardware available in the laboratories.

During the course some practical exercises will be held inside the computer lab, in order to directly verify through the use of digital instruments the arguments shown during lessons.
At the end of each lesson, slides will be made available to all students.
