Learning outcomes

This course aims to review and improve knowledge on basics of mathematics. Particular effort will concern to logic, set theory and functions. The students will learn how to approach mathematics at an university level.

Course contents

Maths foundations: numbers, absolute value, powers and roots. Algebraic expressions

Basics on sets theory

Few aspects of logic

Equations and Inequalities

Functions: definition, graph. Different type of functions (i.e. rational, power, exponential, logarthmic)

Mathematical induction

An introduction to the area problem

Readings/Bibliography

Lecture notes. Any mathematical text at high school level
