Learning outcomes

By the end of the lactivity, the student is able to use digital resources providing support for studies, teaching and research.

Course contents

1) Introduction to Digital Cultural Heritage

-The normative definition of cultural heritage

-The dissemination of cultural heritage through digital: features of Web 2.0 or interactive web

- Digital cultural resources on the web (documents, images, videos, software, collection of objects) of museums, libraries, archives and cultural institutions: state of the art

2) The representation of digital resources: the tools

-Definition of digital resource

-Descriptive elements of digital resources: metadata

-Metalanguages and coding or marking languages

-Models

3) Access to digital cultural resources

-Digital libraries –Repositories

-Deposits open access: the collections of cultural resources of the University of Bologna to support studies, teaching and research

4) The search for documentation and information on the web

-Cataloging of texts and search engines -The role of serch engines in the search for information on the web -The operation of search engines

- Alternative research tools to generalist engines

5) Introduction to the conservation of digital objects (documents): models and conceptual framework - Conceptual nodes

Teaching methods

Standard frontal lessons, integrated lessons with the aid of multimedia tools, practical exercises on the search for digital resources of humanistic interest, technical demonstrations, presentation of problems or cases.

Assessment methods

The outcome of the examination is expressed with a suitability / non-suitability judgment.

The exam consists of a written test (heads / or any exercises to be performed) that the student will support the day of the exams and the development of a theme that will be sent to the teacher one week before the exam.

The test can be with multiple choice type of question, multiple answer, true or false statement, open answer, association of words (total 35 questions). The test will be positively evaluated if the student has correctly answered 75% of the questions. The time for the test is thirty minutes.

Students can choose a theme from those indicated on the ON LINE TEACHING platform. The theme will be evaluated and will compete with the test for the attribution of the suitability.
