Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is, on the one hand, to study demographic projection in depth, on the other hand, to analyze interaction between demographic and social variables in developed and developing world.
Course contents
Prerequisites: knowledge of basic demographic theory and measures.
Recent Italian demographic trend in the European context. Patterns of fertility in low-fertility settings.The evolution of mortality.
Population projections. Formulation of detailed assumptions about the future paths of fertility, mortality and migration.
Population projections by age and by sex. Population projections and migration.
World population growth and perspectives. In depth analysis of developed and developing countries most relevant problems (ageing, fertility control, migration).

PC lab test on demographic projections and oral test on the topics developed during the courses. Final score resumes marks on both tests.
