Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the Student will be able to plan sample surveys with basic sampling designs.

Course contents

Inference in finite and infinite populations.

Design based inference.

Simple random sampling with and without replacement. Sample size estimation.

Use of auxiliary information at the design stage:
- stratified sampling;
- unequal probability sampling.

Use of auxiliary information at the estimation stage:
- quotient estimator;
- regression estimator;
- calibration estimator.

Cluster sampling.
