Learning outcomes

 At the end of the course, students are expected to be familiar with basic knowledge concerning bibliographical sources, Unibo Library System, database of relevant international organizations, information retrival methods.

Course contents

The course focuses on the following topics: library repertoires; online catalogues of books and journals; documents search and retrival; access to electronic resources, bibliographical citations of various types of sources and documents according to the international standards; database. 

The course allows students to acquire knowledge and skills enabling them to draft documents (reports and papers) about general and specific subjects on the basis of both available data and scholarship literature. Such knowledge and skills are essential for the final examination of L-SID.

Readings/Bibliography

Students will work on sources, documents and course materials.

Teaching methods

Lectures, practical training and class-room exercises.  Important: attendance is compulsory. To be admitted to the final examination, students will be required to have attended at least 7 lessons out of ten.

Assessment methods

At the end of the course students having attended at least 70% of the whole course will enter a final examination requiring them: a) to search for bibliographical references; b) to write down a bibliography according to the international standards. 

Teaching tools

Personal computer and internet access for each student. Video projector. Lessons are held in the LABIC rooms.
