Anno Accademico 2018/2019

Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

The course provides the background of the theory of signals, of the measurement uncertainty arising in instrumentation as well as of the basic architecture of electronic measurement instrumentation used in electric power systems. At the end of the course students are able to evaluate the measurement uncertainty propagating through the measurement algorithms in complex measurement systems and to express it according to the new method proposed by the new GUM. Moreover they are also able to select sensors used in electric systems, according to the measurement functions, to condition their output signals, to set up properly the data acquisition system and to analyze the gathered data both in the time and frequency domain.

1. Elements of Metrology; 2. Probability and Statistic; 3. Error and Uncertainty: Evaluation and Expression of Uncertainty in Measurements; 4. Analog and Digital signals; 5. Analysis of signals in time and in frequency domains; 6. Quantities measured in Power Systems; 7. International Standards related to Measurements in Power Systems; 7. Automatic Test Equipments (ATE) for Measurements in Power systems: conditioning circuits & Analog-to-Digital Converter; 8. Sensors and Transducers used for Measurements in Power Systems; 9. Virtual Instrumentation; 10. Distributed Measurement Systems.
