PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES
April 2021 – present: Post-doctoral Researcher within the scope of the Horizon2020 project “MERGING - Housing for Immigrants and Community Integration in Europe and Beyond: Strategies, Policies, Dwellings, and Governance”, at the University of Bologna Department of Management (DiSA).
February 2021 – present: Responsible of the country chronicles on Libya of the international journal “Année du Maghreb”, together with Dr. Chiara Loschi.
December 2020 – present: Member of the Scientific Committee for the project: La jeune recherche en Sciences humaines et Sociales: un outil de développement au service de la Libye (JRSHSLibye), IRMC, Tunis. Aim of the project is to organize training for Libyan young researchers in social sciences.
November 2020 – present: Libya country expert for Bertelsmann Stiftung’s Transformation Index (www.bti-project.org ) and author of the BTI 2022 Libya Report (to be published in Spring 2021)
November 2020 – present: Associate Researcher (expertise on mobilities and migrations in North Africa), international research project: Regions2050: mobile spaces, porous borders, and pathways of regionalization, responsible Professor Achille Mbembe, Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research of the University of Witwatersrand (Johannesburg).
September 2020 – present: Scientific collaborations with ASGI (Associazione Studi Giuridici sull’immigrazone) project “Sciabaca” (https://www.asgi.it/tag/progetto-sciabaca/) on specific themes connected to EU’s externalization strategies in Tunisia and Libya as well as very first reception procedures in Italy.
November 2018 – October 2020: Post-doctoral Researcher in African History at University of Pavia Department of Political and Social Sciences in partnership with University of Basel’s Department of Sociology where I am Principal Researcher for Italy, Tunisia and Libya of the research project "Infrastructure Space and the Future of Migration Management: The EU Hotspots in the Mediterranean Borderscape", funded by the Swiss Network for International Studies [https://snis.ch/project/infrastructure-space-and-the-future-of-migration-management/] (Budget 293,208 CHF).
February - September 2020: Member of the Scientific Committee in charge of organizing the seminar series Political and Social Transitions in Contemporary Africa and Asia and Bordering, border making and border crossing in the history and politics of Africa and Asia (20 hours and 3 CFU) within the scope of the University of Pavia’s Master Programme in African and Asian Studies 2020’s Summer School (14-15 September 2020).

RESEARCH EXPERIENCES IN ITALY AND ABROAD
September 2021: Archival research at the Archives Nationales d’Outre-Mer (ANOM), Aix-en-Provence, France.
May – August 2019: Fieldwork in Italy (Rome, Sicily and Lampedusa) and Tunisia (Tunis, Enfidha, Sfax, Jarjis, Medenine, Ben Guardane) for the purposes of the research project "Infrastructure Space and the Future of Migration Management: The EU Hotspots in the Mediterranean Borderscape”. The fieldwork entailed semi-structured interviews with National, International and Trans-national Institutional actors; NGOs and IOs involved in the field of Migration Management, and asylum in Italy, Tunisia and Libya, as well as site visits to Italian hotspots facilities and reception centres as well as urban accommodation for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Tunisia.
Summer 2018: Preparatory fieldwork in south-eastern Tunisia with sit visits to the former Medenine reception center for mixed migratory flows, and semi-structured interviews with few residents as well as workers of the center.
July 2016: Archival research at the London National Archives, and the British Library, UK.
October 2015 – June 2016: Archival Research at the Tunisian National Library (Dar al-Kutub al- Wataniyya) and the Tunisian National Archives (al-Arshīf al-Watany), Tunis.
November 2014 - March 2015, July 2015: Archival research at the Historical Archive of the Italian Foreign Ministry (Rome, Italy), and the Central Archives of the State (Rome, Italy).
27 September 2014 – 15 October 2014: International traineeship for cooperation and research in Dire Dawa and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) sponsored by Pavia’s Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the University of Pavia and the University of Dire Dawa (semi-structured interviews with Federal and Local authorities, NGOs, and the local Chamber of Commerce to explore potential field of economic and cultural cooperation between Pavia and Dire Dawa).

THESIS TUTORING AND CO-TUTORING
Both while teaching at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and as a cultrice della materia at the University of Pavia I tutored and/or co-tutored several students writing their Master’s degree thesis in the History and Institutions of Africa (Sps-13), with a special focus on North Africa's Colonial and Post-Colonial societies.
