Greenmetric World University Rankings: the university’s positioning and the methodology

The University of Bologna's positioning in the ranking that analyses universities' commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.

Results of the 2026 ranking at a glance

  • 9th in the world rankings
  • 1st in Southern Europe
  • 1st in the national ranking for the ninth consecutive year

In the individual categories

  • 2nd in the world for Governance and Digitalization;
  • 3rd in the world for Education;
  • 3rd in the world for Transportation and Mobility.

Methodology

Indicators and number of universities analysed

The purpose of the ranking is to highlight and compare the universities' commitment to sustainability and environmental friendliness in terms of campus management. The ranking is conducted by Universitas Indonesia (UI) on data provided by the universities.

This year, 2,016 universities were ranked. A total of 32 Italian universities participated in the survey.
