International students, researchers and professors @unibo: how to obtain the "Green Pass" (COVID-19 green certification) in Italy

From 1 September to 31 December 2021, all students of the University of Bologna and all the staff must be in possession and are required to exhibit the COVID-19 Green Pass certification.

General information about the Green Pass in Italy

Do you already have a Covid Green Pass obtained abroad?

You can use a Green Pass obtained in the following countries:

  • EU and the Schengen Area countries
  • San Marino and Vatican (for vaccine only on the basis of EMA approved vaccines, except for derogation for citizens of San Marino vaccinated with Sputnik, until 15 October 2021)
  • Canada, Japan, Israel, United Kingdom (European territories), USA: these Green Passes are not verifiable through the "VerificationC19" app.

Do you want to get a Green Pass in Italy and have you been vaccinated with a Sputnik, Sinovac or with other vaccine not approved by the EMA?

You can receive a “booster” dose with an m-RNA vaccine between 28 days and 6 months (180 days) from completing a vaccination course abroad. If you completed the vaccination course abroad over 6 months ago, or if you have not completed the vaccination course, you can receive a complete vaccination cycle with an m-RNA vaccine.

Do you want to obtain a Green Pass in Italy by means of a negative test result with only the identity document / passport?

  • Read the list of pharmacies that offer the rapid antigen test available on this page (only in Italian “Farmacie aderenti test antigenico rapido”
  • Go to a listed pharmacy with an ID document or passport
  • Perform the test and obtain the NRFE code (Electronic Report Number of the Antigenic Swab “Numero Referto Elettronico del Tampone antigenico”)
  • Fill out the form to obtain the Green Pass (available only in Italian) by selecting: “Utente senza tessera sanitaria o vaccinato all'estero” (User without health card or vaccinated abroad)
  • Download the Green Pass. Attention: the Green Pass thus obtained is valid for 48 hours.

  • Obtain the Italian tax code
  • Fill out the AUSL Bologna data verification form for issuing the Green Pass  (available only in Italian)
  • Indicate the details of your domicile in Italy in the fields relating to residence (“residenza)
  • Enter 000000 in the “Numero della tessera sanitaria” (Italian Health card number) field, if you do not have one
  • Fill out the questionnaire and upload your Green Pass among the required documents
  • Get the AUTHCODE
  • Fill out the form to obtain the Green Pass (available only in Italian) by selecting: “Utente senza tessera sanitaria o vaccinato all'estero” (User without health card or vaccinated abroad)
  • Download the Green Pass.

  • Obtain the Italian tax code

  • Enter 000000 in the “Numero della tessera sanitaria” (Italian Health card number) field, if you do not have one
  • Fill out the questionnaire and upload your certificate of healing obtained abroad among the required documents
  • Obtain the NUCG code (Unique Number of the Certification of Healing)
  • Fill out the form to obtain the Green Pass (available only in Italian) by selecting: “Utente senza tessera sanitaria o vaccinato all'estero” (User without health card or vaccinated abroad)
  • Download the Green Pass.

  • Fill out the form to obtain the Green Pass (available only in Italian) by selecting: “Utente non iscritto al SSN vaccinato in Italia” (User not registered with the SSN vaccinated in Italy)
  • Download the Green Pass. Attention: the Green Pass thus obtained is valid from the 15th day after the date on which you received the first dose of vaccine until the date scheduled for the second dose.

Important: the legislation is constantly evolving and the Green Pass issuing systems have been recently adopted and are little tested. Malfunctions are possible.
