Device for the chemical microenvironment control

The invention refers to a method/device for cell growth microbiological control. The microenvironment of the control is achieved with micrometer resolution. This method allows the creation of a new experimental paradigm.

The microenvironment experienced by the cells in vitro is greatly different by the one found in vivo. The microenvironment in vivo varies according to pathological or physiological condition of the organism.

The invention refers to a method/device which simulate the oxygen concentration and gradients (normoxia, hypoxia), the glucose concentrations and the pH values found in vivo conditions. The device mimic the physiological and pathological conditions experienced by the cells in tissues and organisms.

The device will allow in vivo mimetic sperimentation in sperimental procedures: preclinical and clinical investigations, drug discovery and diagnostic/teragnostic procedures are involved. The animal use is reduced and the similarity to the human cell microenvironments can be increased with respect to animal models.
