- Learning outcomes
- Phd researchers will have a qualified and specific training in all the research field of mathematics, and willl be able to perform an autonomous research activity in pure or applied math. Indeed their will receive a deep training in a large spectrum of emergent scientific problems, and a personalized training in a specific mathematical field. Hence, he will be able to develop mathematical theories in new directions or to develop models which require a deep mathematical knowledge problems. The PhD will be able to study and solve new problems posed by different fields with a rigorous mathematical approach. For this reason he will have carrier opportunities either in academic endehavior where pure research can be developed, or of industrial, financial or biomedical context where applied math is developed, or he could cover responsibility positions in private or public research centers. Finally he will be able to work in any context where projectual and management skillls are required.
- Activities to be carried out by Doctoral candidates
- The fellows
- in the first year will follow courses in their research field,
- from the second year they will focus on training through research,
- will follow seminars and participate to specialistic conferences,
- will perform laboratory activity with mathematical software,
- will follow courses to acquire specific skills, as for example ability of using library resources, communication skills, grant writing skills. - Research training activities compliant with the Doctoral programme's learning outcomes
- Activities for carrier development in academic institutions:
- specialistic seminars on the topics of pure and applied mathematics
- participation to national and international conferences and workshop internazionali, giving short comunications.
Activities for carrier development in private sector, industrial or financial:
- secondments in industrial or financial research centres
- participations to talks delivered by industrial managers. - Internationalization features
- The phd course is characterized by the following elements
- It will be complemented by two Marie Curie projects with partners from different European countries. Precisely
we are partners of the EU project already funded INdAM-DP-COFUND-2015,
we coordinate the project already funded 777822 — GHAIA — H2020-MSCA-RISE-2017
This will favour the mobility of all students and the presence of many foreners professor, who will give corses and seminars.
- Cotutoring is strongly suggested, and half of the students of the first year has a cotutoring with a foreign University
- the preliminary colloquium have to be afforded in english
- the courses can be delivered in english if foreners students are present.
- specific training in scientific english will be obtained through seminars and courses in english Training in general english will be obtaining through the courses of the linguistic center of UNIBO. - Expected research results and products
- The main expected result in the phd thesis. Moreover the fellow could submit poster or short comunications to conferences or events.
