Learning outcomes
Achievement of a fine strategy for scientific research on literary texts. This methodology entails a wide-ranging approach to the texts, involving critical editions, analyses on literary reception, inquiries on formal, linguistic, stylistic levels. Such a stratified methodology clearly provides expertise and skills for a variety of "itinera" and professions: in particular for academic research and teaching, for teaching in high school (also in view of an ongoing update of educational programmes and lines), for publishing and journalism.
Activities to be carried out by Doctoral candidates
Bibliographic inquiries and text readings. Original research focusing on a wide range of advanced issues (including reading of manuscripts, ancient editions, consultation of archives, processing of digital archives and online data, analyses based on philological and linguistic perspectives) for the achievement of a fine methodology for scientific research on literary texts such as critical editions and the study of literary reception and history of ideas.
Research training activities compliant with the Doctoral programme's learning outcomes
In the first and second year of the PhD programme are scheduled 30 hours of lectures planned and interdoctoral seminars common to all PhD students, in addition to 50 hours of curricular teaching (lectures and conferences, specific for individual curricula) and 20 hours of free choice subjects (participation to National and International conferences such as the meetings of ADI or The Europaeum Classics Colloquia, seminars organised by PhD students themselves). The total is 100 hours of mandatory teaching. In the 3rd year there will be 60 mandatory hours in order to leave time to prepare the dissertation. Lectures and seminars are mostly given by external professors both from Italy and from abroad.
Internationalization features
For all students PhD board offers an international perspective of 6 months study in European and USA Universities.
Expected research results and products
Throughout the three-years course at least one presentation in a national or international Conference is expected, and the publication of an article on a journal of A/B level. A special acknowledgement for publishing the PhD dissertation.
