International students abroad enrolled for A.Y. 2020/21

If you are an international student and / or in possession of a qualification obtained abroad and you cannot reach the University of Bologna, for reasons related to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can:

  • attend lectures online, if you have the name.surname@studio.unibo.it credentials
  • request the activation of the career remotely. You will then be able to fill in the study plan and take exams remotely.

To activate the career remotely you need to:

  • have been admitted to the degree programme you are enrolling in;
  • have paid the first instalment of tuition fees within the deadlines set out in the calls and in any case no later than 26 November 2020 (read the instructions on tuition fees);
  • carry out the remote identification: book an appointment through Studenti Online by accessing the details of the enrolment procedure;
  • send the complete documentation relating to your qualification by email to the Student Administration Office of your Campus and notify the need to activate your career remotely (read the documentation necessary to enrol in first or single-cycle degrees and second cycle degrees).
    The relevant contacts on each Campus are:
    - Bologna Campus: International Student Registration Office segstudintbo@unibo.it
    - Forlì Campus: segforli@unibo.it
    - Cesena Campus: segcesena@unibo.it
    - Rimini Campus: segrimini@unibo.it
    - Ravenna Campus: segravenna@unibo.it

If you are a non-EU student with residency abroad, it is not necessary at this stage to have already obtained an entry visa for study purposes, but read the rules about the study visa (“studio – immatricolazione universitaria”) below carefully.

The Student Administration Office will check your documents, your pre-enrolment through the website Universitaly.it and activate your career remotely.

Important! Remember that as soon as you arrive at the University of Bologna, you will need to contact your relevant Student Administration Office to make an appointment and deliver the original documentation relating to the qualification and have your career fully activated.

In fact, if you are an EU student you will still have to:

  • send / deliver your complete study documentation in original to the relevant Student Administration Office.

If you are a non-EU student, you will have to:

  • enter Italy with a study visa (“studio – immatricolazione universitaria”);
  • make an appointment at the relevant Student Administration Office to submit your complete study documentation in original, show your study visa (“studio – immatricolazione universitaria”) and request a certificate of enrolment that you will need to apply for a residence permit;
  • apply for the residence permit to the relevant Police Headquarters (Questura).

Read how to access the Student Administration Offices.

Important! Embassies will issue the entry visas until 31 January 2021, unless a different later date may be established by the competent Ministry.
