Learning outcomes

The student will learn the theory of vector spaces (real and complex) of finite dimension and linear applications. The students will also learn the basic notions of geometry in plane and space. In particular, how to find the solution of linear systems, determine eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a matrix, solve simple problems of geometry.

Course contents

Geometry in three dimensions. Theory of vector spaces, bases and dimension. Linear maps, dimension theorem. Linear system, Rouche-Capelli theorem. Scalar products, spectral theorem. Dual spaces and tensors.
