Learning outcomes

Advanced course in design and construction of architecture models. The aim of the course is to assimilate theoretical and practical knowledge trough exercises with CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) and– CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) equipment provided by modelling laboratory.

Course contents

The course is based on design and construction of architectural models as a tool for analysis, verification and representation during the process of architectural design.

Students will face technical features of the most commonly used materials for architectural models and they will acquire necessary tools to understand architectural drawings and to interpret them according according to the needs and the realization of the model.

The course will be scheduled in a series of lectures followed by practical study about main processing techniques.

Teaching methods

Students will participate to a workshop that is a necessary condition to pass the exam.

Assessment methods

Course attendance is not compulsory but strongly recommended to all students to pass the exame.

It's also necessary to carry out the exercise proposed during the atelier, consisting in the realization of an architectural model by traditional techniques and with facilities of modelling laboratory equipments.

Teaching tools

Each lesson will be followed by communication to the students that summarizes lesson contents and provides the necessary informations for carry on in developing exercises.

Equipment of modelling laboratory supplied by the faculty will be used in addition to tools of each student.
