Learning outcomes

The workshop aims at presenting the current EU international cooperation and development policy, its main objectives and goals, its geographical and sector approaches and the major aid instruments employed as well as at familiarizing the student with the method and tools for the project design and management in the context of EU promotion of human rights and cultural heritage. By the end of the workshop, the student: has acquired a sound knowledge of the current EU international cooperation and development policy; is able to search and respond to the most relevant calls for proposals in the field of human rights and cultural heritage.

Course contents

  1. The idea of Development, a critical introduction.
  2. The available frameworks for sustainable development policies
  3. The EU’s role and the  New European Consensus.
  4. EU's structure and actions. Directorates-General (DGs), programs and call for proposals.
    The Project Cycle Management - Designing > Implementing > Monitoring > Evaluating
  5. The tools for designing projects (problem tree, Swot, stakeholder analysis; theory of change, etc.)
  6. Practical exercise  
  7. A critical review

 

All the subject of the workshop will be elaborated and deepened in working groups.

Teaching tools

Students with a form of disability or specific learning disabilities (DSA) who are requesting academic adjustments or compensatory tools are invited to communicate their needs to the teaching staff in order to properly address them and agree on the appropriate measures with the competent bodies.
