Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the student knows the basic constructs of the general psychology and the main methods of the behavior study. In particular the student acquires the basic skills on cognitive and emotional processes.

Course contents

RESEARCH METHODS IN PSYCHOLOGY: Descriptive Studies; Correlational studies: Observational studies; Experimental studies.

PERCEPTION: Relationship between perceptive process and reality; iii) Bottom-up and top-down mechanisms; Attentional systems; Selective attention; Localization; Recognition; Perceptual constancy; Perceptual Illusions; Perception and Marketing

MEMORY: Memory Systems; Memory processes; Working Memory; Memory and Emotion; Deficits of Memory.

LEARNING: Habituation; Classical Conditioning; Operant Conditioning Other Learning Processes.

EMOTION AND MOTIVATION: Emotion and Perception. Theories of emotion. Emotional responses. Emotional expression; Motivations; Emotion and Marketing

Teaching methods

Lessons will require the active participation of students. During the course, students will study and present  research articles  of intersest on specific topics.

Assessment methods

The exam is written and it includes two open questions.
