Course contents

This course presents a partially experimental system that requires active and critical participation by the interested Students. That is why attendance is strongly recommended. To be allowed to take the exams, non-attending students are required to participate to two meetings , at least two months before the possible exam date during the teacher’s office hours.  This is a pre-professional course, primarily addressed to cultural and social workers, but also to educators and teachers (indeed, school teachers carry out education activities about self-expression, at all school levels, inside and outside the school). Therefore, it can be usefully integrated with the course of Theory and practice of education/training.

The course includes some seminar lessons by other Teachers, with the aim of a multidisciplinary integration justified by didactic and scientific reasons.

The first aim of the course concerns the definition of "artistic expression" as a holistic and integrated activity, and the understanding of the relationship between emotional/motivational dimensions and specific technical skills / competences, especially throughout childhood. In order to orient them to a proper use of communication, the course aims to promote in educators and teachers, involved in activities related to artistic expression, a self-reflexive comprehension of their experience (representations, motivations, emotions).

The course will focus on the intersections between art, religion and education, with attention to singing, dancing, dramatization and images. Specific differentiated paths, and personal readings, will be agreed with the attending students.
