Learning outcomes

The course objective is to allow a critical interpretation of primary and secondary sources on the history of Italian philosophy, with particular attention to the different political and social contexts, and to follow the parallel developments of philosophical culture, science and literature in Europe and in the international field. At the end of the course students will have acquired the ability to identify some of the main problems of the Italian philosophical thought, to employ specific lexicon the discipline, to critically assess the interpretative categories and methodological tools.

Course contents

The course will be devoted to the Filosofia pratica. Etica e politica by Benedetto Croce. This work will be analyzed specifically, together with all the most important aspects of Croce's philosophy. The course also considers the Italian and political culture in the first half of the XXth century.

 

From 11th november: Monday h. 11-13 (aula B, via Centotrecento), Tuesday e Thursday h. 11-13 (aula D, via Centrotrecento).

The final oral exam focuses on the programme’s material and will be held in the Professor’s office, Via Zamboni, 38.

The critical evaluation considers the fundamental notions, the level of the analysis and the critical skills. On the basis of these three principal parameters an overall evaluation in thirtieths is expressed.
