Learning outcomes
At the end of the degree in Geological Science, the course called Geological Field offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to combine theory with field and laboratory observations upon specific geological science themes.
Course contents
Geology of the Central Eastern Elba Island.

Teaching methods
The compulsory Geological field activities will be developed in 10 days, focused on the geology of the Central Eastern Elba Island. The teaching activity will be developed in collaboration with the colleagues (Braga and Gasparotto) of the BiGeA Department, who will develop specific didactic forms.
Assessment methods
The assessment of learning takes place through daily control in the field book and the discussion on specific issues. The control of the field book allows teachers to test skills acquired by students in the geological work on the ground. The discussion on specific topics aims to verify the acquisition of knowledge provided in the courses of all the teaching staff. The final grade, expressed as fitness, takes account of estimates reported in both tests.
Teachers give students a positive score up to 2 or a negative score. If the average is positive, the student is fit and the mark obtained will be added to the graduation grade. If the average score is negative, the student is unfit and must repeat the Geological Field.
Teaching tools
Basic equipment for field geological activities: maps, hammer, magnifying glass, camera, computer, etc..
