Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the student – knows and understands the main pedagogical and didactical aspects concerning the body expression and the play activities in the first and second childhood; - knows the pedagogical and educational fundamental theoretical references in relation to the motor activity theme and the  play in the first and second childhood;-knows the models of services for early childhood and can subsequently build specific didactic paths child-centered and parents supporting, with particular attention to play and motor activity education as privileged strategies; - can plan didactic paths centered on the motor activity and play as key strategies; - has appropriate competence  and tools for the production and communication of pedagogical documentation

Course contents

The course concerns themes related to the importance, in the first years of children life, of motor activities and play. In relation to these themes, the  course will provide a background knowledge on motor development and  play  in pedagogical and educational field. It also provides knowledge and skills regarding the observation and comprehension of the play autonomous activity of children.

In particular, the course will analyse:

-         the main models of body conceptualisation in education: from body/mind dualism to phenomenological perspective

-         motor development in the first and second years of life

- main theoretical and methodological approaches to play

- observing child play activities 

-         psychomotor perspective

-         the motor activity in 0-3 services: some operational proposals

- educator's role in promoting the child's spontaneous play

- organization of the material context (spaces and materials)

 

The course is conducted both in presence and e-learning (40 hours in classroom, 8 on-line). Materials, in italian language, for the part of the course that will take place on-line are availablmodality e on the elearning website https://elearning-cds.unibo.it/.  Access is available with university student userid and password.

Power point, slides, video analysis, papers provided by the teacher during the course.

Assessment methods

Test with multiple choice questions and short essays. For course-attenders students, an exercise on the material present on e-learning is also part of the exame.
