Learning outcomes

At the end of the couse students will have achieved the following objectives:
- knowledge of the main theories of knowledge and learning;
- knowledge of the Dewey's theory of the active teaching;
- knowledge of the concept of individual experience and social experience;
- knowledge of the main methodologies of play in teaching school in kindergarten and primary school;
- ability to identify relationship between the classification' s games and educational objectives to be included in educational programming;
- ability to manage group work in classroom;
- ability to recognize a playful approach in teaching the discipline;
- ability to use teaching methodologies for active learning;
- ability to organize teaching strategies for group work, for educatonal playing, for mimicry;
- ability to realize operating models of pole playing in educational setting of Primary school.

Course contents

The course will address the main issues related to active methodologies and teaching methods, framing them within the broader field of teaching and learning methodologies and Education.

Specifically, the topics covered will be:

- definition of teaching-learning methodlogies; the main education currents: activism of Dewey, didactic cognitivism, socio-constructivism

- the teaching methods between transmission, activism and cooperation

- laboratory teaching

- transitions: vertical and horizontal educational continuity.

The course intends to introduce students to an educational planning capable of enhancing the knowledge and use of traditional-transmissive, active and cooperative teaching methods in preschool and primary school contexts, also in a perspective of educational continuity.

 

The course is conducted both in presence and e-learning (44 hours in classroom, 4 on-line). Materials, in italian language, for the part of the course that will take place on-line are availablmodality e on the elearning website https://elearning-cds.unibo.it/. Access is available with university student userid and password.

Teaching methods

Power point presetation, video analysis, papers provided by the teacher during the course.

Assessment methods

Test with multiple choice questions and short essays. The correction criteria and the modalities ratings will be indicated on the first page of the written test. The Exams will be graded from 1 to 30 (minimum vore is 18/30).
