  • Docente: Guido Guidi
  • Credits: 2
  • Language: Italian
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Cesena
  • Corso: Single cycle degree programme (LMCU) in Architecture (cod. 0881)

Learning outcomes

The student knows the main theoretical basis of photography, needed to clarify the process of realization of the image, analog and digital. Through the control of the frame and the study of the composition, he acquires a technique of representation of the landscape and architecture.

Course contents

Critics who are not photographers often divide the picture into two camps: one is called documentary, suggesting that it has privileged access to the truth; the other is called creative, or personal, or expressive, suggesting that it has privileged access to art . Best photographers certainly evade this dichotomy, understanding that it does a disservice both to truth and art, and also to the integrity of photography, that it is a method of describing how things look, without distinction of fields (John Szarkowski).
The course aims to use the camera as a tool of observation analytical and estranging, to explore a path like many others, but choose carefully among the most distant from the canonical destinations of tourists or art critics. You will end up, with sorrow, to exclude paths beaten by lovers, artists and photographers in search of themselves ... In short, a place where losing any intention to photograph the place to photograph "in" that place.
The selection and sequencing of photographs will complete a learning process that aims to revive our perceptions made opaque by the habits and to rediscover the ethos of photography: to educate us, as Moholy-Nagy would have said, to an intensive vision.
